Privacy Terms support@trellisbible.com

Terms of use

Last updated 5 October 2026

By using Trellis you agree to these terms.

The service

Trellis provides Bible reading plans, generated explanations, and study tools. Scripture text comes from public-domain translations (King James Version, World English Bible, Berean Standard Bible). Explanations are generated by a language model drawing on public-domain commentaries and are provided for study; they are not a substitute for your church, pastor, or your own reading. If something ever looks off to you, write to support.

Who can use Trellis

You need to be at least 13 years old, and old enough to enter a contract where you live. Trellis requires an account: keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has reached your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

Premium subscription

  • Premium is offered as a yearly ($49.99) or monthly ($9.99) auto-renewing subscription.
  • The yearly plan begins with a 7-day free trial for a store account that has never subscribed, once per account. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly subscription begins when it ends and the yearly price is charged then.
  • Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free trial if the purchase began with one.
  • The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
  • Refunds are handled by the store you purchased through.
  • Prices may vary by region and can change; you will be told before any change applies.

Your content

Notes, highlights, and questions you write are yours. You grant Trellis only the rights needed to store, sync, and display them to you. Do not include content that is unlawful or that you do not have the right to share.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to extract the service's prompts, overload it, or use it to generate content unrelated to understanding scripture. Do not copy, resell, or reverse engineer the app. We may limit or suspend accounts that abuse the service.

Fair use and limits

Generated features carry daily and monthly limits. They are set so that ordinary study never reaches them, and so that nobody can run the service down for everyone else. The daily limits reset at midnight UTC, and the monthly ones on the first of each month. As of the date above:

  • Plans. Plans need Premium: browsing, reading and starting the ready-made plans, and having one built for you, which draws on the day-content allowance below. You can run as many at once as you like, and a plan you have started stays yours to finish if Premium ends.
  • Day content — the explanation, the prayer, and the rest of a day as it is written for you. 30 a day and 200 a month on Premium; 10 a day and 30 a month without it, for finishing a plan you already have. Making a plan draws on the same allowance, by its length: roughly one for every ten days in it. The day and the month are separate ceilings, not one multiplied by the other.
  • Ask. 50 questions a day, Premium only.
  • Searching by meaning. 60 a day, on both.

Reading, searching for words, highlights, bookmarks, notes, streaks and listening to a chapter are not limited at all. A day already written for you can be re-read as often as you like and does not count again. The next day or two we write ahead of you as you go count once each, like any other day, and a day that fails to arrive does not count. The ready-made plans arrive already written, so reading one costs nothing against these. We will tell you before lowering a limit on a plan you are paying for.

What belongs to Trellis

The app, its design, its name and mark, and the explanations, prayers and plans it generates belong to Trellis. You may use them for your own study and share them as any reader would, but not republish them as a product of your own. Scripture text and the historic commentaries are public domain and belong to nobody.

Sources and attribution

The scripture text in Trellis comes from three public-domain translations:

  • King James Version. Public domain (Crown copyright in the UK).
  • World English Bible. Public domain. ebible.org
  • Berean Standard Bible. Public domain (CC0). bereanbible.com

The explanations are written by a language model drawing on three public-domain commentaries. They are not quoted directly, and no explanation is the view of any one of them:

  • Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible (1710), public domain
  • Jamieson, Fausset and Brown, Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible (1871), public domain
  • Adam Clarke's Commentary on the Bible (1831), public domain

Availability and changes

Generated features need a network connection and may be unavailable at times. Reading, notes, and progress work offline. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue Premium we will stop charging for it.

Ending your access

You can stop using Trellis at any time and delete your account from Settings, which removes what we hold for you as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at legal risk, and we will tell you why unless the law stops us. If we close your account without cause while you are paying for Premium, you get the unused part of that period back.

Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free.

To the extent permitted by law, Trellis is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law, or our liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

If you installed through Apple

These terms are between you and Trellis, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app and is not responsible for any claim you have about it, including product liability, any failure to meet a legal requirement, or a claim under consumer protection law. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary. The same division of responsibility applies to Google Play.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Carrying on with Trellis after that date means you accept the new terms. The date at the top always shows the current version.

General

These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Not enforcing a term once does not waive it. You may not transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them if the app changes hands, and your rights stay the same.
